agemon: set up and undo an AI coding-agent environment

An open-source CLI that bootstraps an AI coding-agent environment in a repository, records every change, and can reverse all of it.

Context

Setting up AI coding agents in a repository means rules files, skills, tools, and background services, done by hand each time and hard to undo cleanly.

My role

Author and maintainer.

What I built and decided

  • A plugin-driven CLI that installs a curated agent environment in one run.
  • A state manifest that records every change, so agemon nuke can reverse exactly those changes.
  • A dry-run mode, tests, and a changelog.
  • Optional skill groups, including a team-lead set for RFCs, PRDs, and incident reviews.

Outcome

Public on GitHub under the MIT licence, with 16 releases so far (v4.7.2 on 26 September 2026). This portfolio's repository is set up with it.

What I'd do next

Support more than Ubuntu, which is the only platform it runs on today.
